Smartsheet Hosts Google I/O Extended, Brings Developers Together

Published on 25 May 2016

Smartsheet is continuously looking for ways to work with our strategic partners to build the knowledge of our developer base. Investing in opportunities to share knowledge, promote ideas, and build the developer community benefits everyone involved.

As part of this effort, we recently hosted a “Google I/O Extended” event in downtown Bellevue, Washington, where our office headquarters are located. Google I/O Extended events help expand the reach of Google’s I/O developer conference to local developer groups around the world.

Annual Event Builds Local Community

Smartsheet is one of Google Apps Premier Technology Partners and we were one of the first solutions named in the “Recommended for Google Apps for Work” program.

While we have customers and developer partners around the world, we’re dedicated to making the Bellevue/Seattle area a center of excellence for the technology community.

Huge Turnout for Shared Knowledge

Over 150 people attended the event to watch a live stream of Google’s keynote address, learn from Smartsheet and Google experts on a variety of topics, and come together as a community. It was open to the public and we shared stories with folks from large, local organizations such as Microsoft and Expedia, as well as a host of smaller tech companies.

Presentations at the event were focused on how to build better technology leveraging the Google platform with examples of our own integrations.  The talks were intended to help developers in the area understand how to improve their apps and work better with Google. You can view all of the presentations in this post.

Further Activities to Grow the Developer Community

As part of our continued effort to support our partners and grow the local community, we will be hosting more events, such as Seattle Microservices and the Tech Titan Crawl.

For more information on events we are hosting, or if you need help hosting your event, please send us a message at: dev-events@smartsheet.com.

In addition to supporting the community, we will be also contributing to open source efforts, and partnering with more companies over the coming year.  Recently, we posted our wrapper to make writing Android apps easier when using C++.

We view Google as one of the critical partners in our effort to make users more effective. By celebrating I/O and being able to talk about how we work with Google, we feel like we are able to help local folks to connect better with Google, Smartsheet, and tech community in Bellevue.
