# Alternate Email addresses

A User in Smartsheet must have a primary email address associated with
their user account (User.email) and may optionally have one or more
alternate email addresses associated with their account
(User.alternateEmails). 

> **Who can use these operations?**
> 
> - **Plans:** Only Enterprise and Advanced Work Management plans with this feature activated by Support can use this method. If you want to activate this feature, please contact Support.
> - **Permissions:** System Admin

The following operations must be performed using
an user's primary email address:

* Add Group Members
* Add User
* Create Update Request
* Share Report
* Share Sheet
* Share Workspace

Attempting to specify a user's alternate email address for any of the
above operations results in an error.
